OK I am running latest version of Win 11 and NVDA.

I have a jpg file that I want to try to read with Windows OCR.  I have
the jpg file selecgted and hit insert r and noting seems to happen. 
What am I doing wrong.  The jpg is a picture of a recipe.

Windows+R makes OCR to the object selected, in your case, the line with the name of the file...

Latelly I have noticed that Google Chrome describe the JPG files, and in the case of text, makes a very reasonable work!


So, try that or use one of the NVDA add-ons for OCR, like tesseractOCR or NAO.

 I'd recommend using the Be My Eyes application for Windows to describe and extract text from your image. You can right-click on the image, save it to your computer, and then open it using Be My Eyes. This app is super handy and can help you access the text in the image, which in this case is a recipe. Give it a try and see how it works for you!

Yes, I have be my eyes on my pc and it is a very versatile tool for viewing and reading thing from my cheap little webcam and things on the screen also.

 

It is particularly good for shopping online as  you can often get product information that windows or your screen reader my not provide.
