I recently had opportunity to need the NVDA+D keystroke in Word and
regardless of what I tried while in a table with a long description it
always returned "No additional details."

I am running Windows 10, NVDA 2025.2, Word 365. The  document was a
.docx format and I ran through options looking for anything obvious that
might  stop this from working in document formatting and document
navigation settings. Any help would be appreciated. I even went  through
and created a new document with a fresh table and only added  a long
desc and it still didn't work.

Hi Steven,

We have a couple of open issues around this:

https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/16184 requests adding back alt+d to read long descriptions back to word.
There is also this one https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/16185 noting that table alt text is only read if UIA is set to "only when necessary" (It is an advanced NVDA setting - we use UIA for most things in Word as it generally works better but there are still occasional things not reported).

Kind regards

Quentin
