Has anyone tried to use Canvas with NVDA? A course I am planning on taking in January uses Canvas. I have not even heard of it before. If you have, can you please send me the directions?

Also, somehow my file about "image links" is empty. I have looked at two different files. The reason I am asking about this is because they send me information about Canvas but the buttons seem to be graphic. Do the instructions concerning a link that is an image work the same way as a button that is an image? If so, can someone please send me the directions again. I have know idea why that file seems to be empty.

Thanks so much.

Hi Betsy
I use Canvas regularly for my university, and the webpage is easily accessible if you navigate by heading or landmark.
I have no idea about the information you were given sorry, I wasn't given any when I started using Canvas, I ended up figuring it out by myself.

One thing to note is that when you are inside the course itself, your first heading will be "Recent Announcements" (if yours is set up like mine are) but you then need to tab backwards to access the list of pages within that course (Modules, Reading List, etc). This confused me for a while at first, but now that I've got the hang of it it's quite easy to use.

Hope this helps.
Rebekah 😊

Thank you. So far they just gave me the buttons to get on the site but I cannot enter on them and have them go anywhere. I do not know the command to get past that.

I will go ahead and sign up for the course since you say it is accessible. I am just auditing the class so do not need to use it for everything.

yeah sorry I'm not sure how the buttons you have work, I just login using my university's single sign on with a username and password.
Thanks
Rebekah

Hi Betsy,
As Rebekah mentioned, Canvas is usually accessible by default unless the course page has been intentionally designed in a way that reduces accessibility.
Regarding logging in, your university should provide a specific domain or access credentials that allow you to log in to your course page.
I’m also not sure what files you were given, but I’d be happy to help you further if you’d like.
