Global Plugin does not Install

I am using Windows 10 22h2, nvda 2025.1.2. I cannot install global plugin extension addon after clean install. It shows Failed to install add-on from
D:\software\nvda\NVDAExtensionGlobalPlugin-14.0.6.nvda-addon. How can I install it now?

Hi,

Is this version even compatible with NVDA 2025.1.x? If yes, we need a debug log (send it to me privately) to figure out what’s going on.

Hi all,

Before continuing: some will see duplicate answers.

Answer: according to the debug log I have received, it looks like NVDA Extension add-on is not handling configuration differences between NVDA 2024.4.2 and earlier and 2025.1.0 and later as part of its installation routine. If so, then I advise contacting the ad-on author to get this resolved if possible.

I have contacted with developer. He suggested me to delete profile. I did it and it worked.

Here is the full story. I had report password addon. It created a profile during installing it.

So, if this addon is active, I cannot install nvda global plugin extension. Once I removed it and its profile, I finally could install the addon.

Then, I thought let try to install the report password again. now, if I install a report password, the nvda global plugin gets disabled automatically. None of this function works. I have tried removing the profile keeping the report password addon but it didn't work. I had to remove the report password addon.

I can use either report password or nvda global plugin extension. I can not use both and i dont want to leave neither. now, what can I use to announce password in plain text instead of star? I mean the real character such as p not star sign.

Noelia can correct me on this, but I think Report Passwords add-on is discontinued.

Try using this one to replace the reportPassword. It shows a window where you type the password, and on confirming sends the password to the correct place...

Yes, it's discontinued since security concerns were raised: if someone has installed NVDA, and an admin is controlling the computer where NVDA is speaking, if the add-on is enabled, the password may be reported and listened by the NVDA user.

So I suggest you to contact the author of the incompatible global plugin, in case this person can provide a solution.
