Hello NumFOCUS GSOC,

My name is Mayukh Ghosh. I am a First-year B.Tech student in Computer Science Engineering (AI & ML), and I am interested in participating in Google Summer of Code 2026 under NumFOCUS.

I have a strong interest in Python-based machine learning and have been exploring scikit-learn as my primary area of contribution. Over the past few weeks, I have been familiarizing myself with the scikit-learn codebase, documentation, and contribution guidelines, and I am planning to start contributing to beginner-friendly issues.

I wanted to ask:

Where can interested contributors best follow updates related to NumFOCUS GSoC 2026 project ideas as they become available?
Are there any recommendations on how prospective contributors can prepare effectively at this stage, particularly for scikit-learn?

I would appreciate any guidance or pointers.
