Hello Sir/Madam,
I am Yashwini Bansal, a final-year Computer Science and Engineering undergrad at IIT (BHU), Varanasi, graduating in May 2025. I am writing to express my interest in contributing to NumFOCUS projects under Google Summer of Code (GSoC) 2025.
I'm drawn to NumFOCUS' efforts in open-source projects relating to scientific computing using cutting-edge technology. I am particularly interested in projects relating to numerical computing, machine learning, and optimization that align with my skills and interests.
During my SWE internship at Google, I worked on an automation pipeline for large-scale software migration using LLMs. As a Google STEP intern, I developed an open-source CLI tool for verifying package signatures and metadata (project link: google/aoss-verifier).
Some of my projects include building a high-performance Trading Simulator with asynchronous logging functionality and benchmarking (C++), implementing a multi-threaded In-Memory Caching Template Library (C++), and developing a lightweight machine-learning model for Neonatal Skull Stripping Using Domain Adaptation (Python).
I can adapt quickly to new environments and tech stacks and have a genuine interest in this opportunity.
I would be grateful if you could guide me to beginner-friendly resources and codebases where I can get hands-on experience. Also, I would appreciate details about communication channels where I can get in touch with the community and the mentors.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response.
Warm regards,
Yashwini Bansal
