Introduction & Intrested in Ml Related work

Hi NumFOCUS GSoC Community 👋,

My name is Salaam, and I’m a student interested in machine learning and data science using Python. I’d like to start contributing to NumFOCUS projects that involve ML or scientific ML tools as part of my preparation for GSoC 2026.

I am particularly interested in projects like:
• scikit-learn (ML library)
• aeon (time series ML toolkit)
• JupyterLab (supporting ML workflows)
• AiiDA (scientific workflows with data/ML)

Could you please point me to:
1) Active beginner-friendly issues
2) Suggestions for starter contributions for ML
3) Best communication channels for mentorship
