latest updates from the DISC Steering Committee

Hi folks,

The DISC Steering Committee met on July 25th. Notes from that meeting are here.

There are four DISC working groups, currently:

1. Inclusive community practices in Open Source
2. Assessment of NumFOCUS event post-surveys to understand effectiveness of inclusion efforts
3. Continued work to improve and promote the DISCOVER Cookbook for inclusive events
4. Volunteer management, to look at the most effective ways to promote volunteer engagement with the DISC program

Volunteer Opportunities:

The Inclusive Community Practices group held a volunteer kick-off meeting on Tuesday. For those who weren't able to join:

The events assessment group will hold a kickoff for volunteer involvement in September—stay tuned. 

The DISCOVER Cookbook group hasn't yet decided the timing of their volunteer kick-off but it will likely be in the next few weeks—stay tuned.
