We are happy to invite you and your community to submit your nominations to serve on the DISC committee! Self-nominations, as well as multiple nominations, are welcome.

NumFOCUS recognizes that the open-source data science community is currently highly homogenous. We believe diverse contributors and community members produce better science and projects. The DISC Committee strives to help create a more diverse community through initiatives and programming devoted to increasing participation by and inclusion of underrepresented people.

In previous years, among other initiatives, we organized the DISC Unconference and contributed to proposed standards for the DEI approach to community events in the form of the DISCOVER Cookbook.
