Sir,
I'm referring to Week 11- Q25-- here why cant we write 'hat' instead of 'ist' ?

Since we can say--
Fritz has today already woken up at 5 O' Clock
Or we can also say--
Fritz is today already woken up at 5 O' Clock

Am I right sir ? Plz correct me if wrong along with examples

Thank you

Hello,

Verbs that show movement, change in state, and sein, werden, and bleiben take "sein" when in perfect form and the rest of the verbs take "haben". Since "aufstehen" which means "to get up", it indicates a change of state and therefore we need to use "ist" (form of sein).

You can refer to this for a little more detailed explanation: https://learngerman.dw.com/en/present-perfect-auxiliary-verbs/l-37780308/gr-38302147

As suggested in some of the other questions on the forum as well, it does not help to try to use the rules of English language when you are writing in German because both are distinct languages with their own sets of grammatical rules and usages.

Hope this helps.
