Hi,

I have a question about what is happening in this video at 00:06:08 -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-DHbhtC978#t=368s.

How can we ensure that the learner pauses at the reflection spot and engages with the question posed? How do we reduce the likelihood of the learner just skipping the reflection spot or not engaging with it even after pausing the video?.

Thanks!

Hi Avinash,

Thanks for another very relevant question. For any learning module that integrates reflection spots, the instructors need to clearly communicate the purpose of reflection spots and the importance of engaging with the questions, much like what has been done in this course. The first step towards learners actually engaging with them is to first ensure they understand how these moments contribute to their overall learning experience. We could articulate the benefits of engaging with reflection spots, emphasizing how it contributes to deepening understanding, critical thinking, and overall skill development. Among other points that come to mind is to ideally frame reflection questions in a way that highlights their relevance to real-world scenarios. When learners see the practical application, they're more likely to pause and reflect. We could also include some annotations/quotes that the learner can instantaneously click on at this moment, or try different question formats which may enhance the learner's curiosity.

I welcome and encourage other participants to share their thoughts and ideas here as well.

Thank you.

I agree with this statement.  Even during this session, I am posing and writting down the answers.  But that may not happen in terms of each learner.  Therefore, just a suggestion - Can it be like pausing and answering the question first on a platform and the system should compel for the same.

Dear Shruti,
Thanks for your insights related to Avinash's question. The reflection spot encourages deep understanding of the content and also fosters interaction between learners. Learners can engage with the material at their own pace. We expect more peer discussions on this insight.

With regards
