Hi,

I have a question about what is happening in this video at 00:02:53 -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TS_kLNzmIY#t=173s.

Diversity of languages poses a particularly difficult problem. The availability of appropriate learning resources in various languages is highly disproportionate. In many cases, no resource is available. Creating resources from a scratch is not feasible either - given the paucity of human resources, time, and money. How does one address this issue?.

Thanks!

Dear Learner,
This is a very relevant concern, especially considering the size and diversity of our country. One possible solution could be (assuming that the discussion forum is active) leveraging peer to peer discussion among learners. Say in a MOOC of a few hundred participants, maybe putting those learners together who speak the same language and creating a mini COP can lead to mutual learning among learners even if resources could not be created from scratch, one could aim atleast to help learners make sense of the content with someone in the same situation. Could you think of some challenges that might arise in this situation?

I am taking Diversity- holistically as Emotion a learner faces online.

Read an article on the progression for Emotion-sensing wearables. This could assist in personalized learning by recognizing when a student is frustrated, bored, or engaged. This information could help educators tailor their teaching methods and content delivery to better suit the emotional state and learning style of each student.
