Greetings,

Here is my response to the Reflection Spot from LeD 6.4.2.

Prompt in DF (As per RS in LeD 6.4.2):
"Go to the Discussion Forum & introduce yourself: state your name, domain, where you come from."

My Comments:
At first glance, the prompt suggests visiting the Discussion Forum. However, it lacks assurance that learners will engage in the activity. Furthermore, it comes across as a directive rather than offering context. This prompt appears to be a solitary task of self-presentation, with no emphasis on peer interaction.

Hence, I would propose modifying the prompt as follows:
"As we embark on this learning journey of LCM MOOC, it's important to recognize that you are not alone in this endeavour. Your peers are integral to the learning experience. Therefore, please proceed to the Discussion Forum and introduce yourself by sharing your name, place of origin, and professional domain. Once you have introduced yourself, take the initiative to engage with a peer who shares a similar professional background. Extend a warm welcome to them and initiate a dialogue, fostering a sense of community as we navigate this learning journey together."

Greetings Anthony Gomes,

Thank you for sharing your thoughtful reflection on the prompt from LeD 6.4.2.

Your analysis highlights important aspects that can enhance the effectiveness of such prompts. Let’s break down your comments and explore potential improvements:

1.     Assurance and Engagement: You rightly point out that the initial prompt lacks assurance that learners will actively engage in the activity. Providing context and emphasizing the value of participation can encourage learners to take part more willingly.

2.     Directive vs. Contextual: The prompt’s directive tone could be softened by framing it within a broader context. Learners are more likely to respond positively when they understand the purpose and benefits of the task.

3.     Peer Interaction: I appreciate your emphasis on peer interaction. Learning is often enriched through collaboration and discussion. Encouraging learners to connect with peers who share similar professional backgrounds fosters a sense of community and mutual support.

With your proposed modification, the prompt becomes more inviting and community-oriented. Learners will likely feel motivated to introduce themselves and engage with others. Well done.

Dr. Radhika Injamuri,

Dear all,

I agree with Mr. Anthony and the summarisation by the DFM gives a perfect rationality.
This could be an appeal as part of DF protocol for the discussants. However, one would agree that androgogy has its own challenges. The adults learn in the manner they wish to and when they feel inclined for the same due to some motivation.
Navigating on all the comments make things a liitle cumbersome, may be we could think of something like Micro-FQ (MFQ subserviant to the FQ) which the DFM / TA could intersperse so as to bring the discussants back to the FQ.
This, I guess could potentially address the very legitimate concern raised by Mr. Anthony.
Regards.

Dear All,

Suggestions for the prompt given by our colleague Anthony Gomes Sir and endorsed by Manoj Srivastava Sir are truly appreciated.

The prompt suggested is undoubtedly all inclusive and communicates the very purpose of encouraging discussions.

But my suggestion is, the prompt to be very short and should contain minimum words -

Original Prompt:

Go to the Discussion Forum & introduce yourself: state your name, domain, where you come from."

My suggestion:

Visit the Discussion Forum, Introduce yourself and Know your Peers for Collaborative Learning Experience

As suggested by Manoj Srivastava Sir, the format, contents for inclusion under introduction can be mentioned under respective thread.

Thanks and regards,

Shruti Sidhaye

Dear Manoj Sir
You correctly pointed on a takeaway from Anthony Gomes Sir post.
The proposed approach aims to enhance the effectiveness of the discussion protocol. Now, we're interested in hearing about the most challenging aspect or unclear point (muddiest point) for you this week. Can you provide more details on that?

Happy Learning

Dear Madam,
You rightly mentioned takeaways from Anthony Gomes and Manoj Kumar Sir's posts. As you emphasized brevity, how do you plan to justify this with your peers? Also what according to you is this weeks muddiest point? Please share with us.

Happy Learning!
