Dear All,
-------------------
tldr; Read the bold texts in this post and reflect over the Reflection Spot 2. Those writing the exams, read the post till the end.
-------------------
As a course instructor, it is always heartening to see several of your online learners interacting and teaching each other (and almost always - teaching us back). The Week 6 and Week 7 LxIs were an attempt from our own side to take a pause as an instructor and do a reflection on what happened in the courses that were offered till now and how is the current offering distinct from others.
It was heartening to read
Manoj Kumar Srivastava's in-depth analysis of the forum activities and
Anthony Gomes's additional inputs. Since few of our current DFMs were part of the last year's learner cohort, we had collected their inputs before framing the Focus Question. We are hoping that more learners will contribute in LxI Week 6 discussion in the coming days, as this will also be an informative input back to the course design.

Reflection Spot 1
Reflect on the various forms in which we presented the various elements of LCM in front of you over the last 7 weeks:
- In Week 2, you have seen various forms of LeDs which are not just videos.
- In Week 4, you did the LxI as an LbD (using LLMs to create LxTs)
So here is a larger question to all of you. Is there a strict division between the form and implementation of various elements of the LCM?
In other words:
- Can LeDs be only multi-media content? Can it be a discussion forum post?
- Can LxIs be only created as a Forum activity? Are there other forms of implementing LxIs?
- Can LxTs be created as an LeD? Or even as a discussion forum activity?
- so on and so forth..
-------------------
Rather than giving a definitive answer, here are a set of LxT's embedded within this post to help you further in answering the reflection spot question. These LxTs will take you through specific portions of evolution of LCM and hopefully help you in reconceptualizing LCM as a framework to transform your own ideas about teaching and learning in any setting
-------------------
For the learners who are interested in the historical evolution of these courses, here are some interesting LxTs. Please feel free to jump into rabbit holes and explore the wonderland!!!
LxT 1: From the archives
Here is a set of web links to the forums from the previous runs of this course. Take a look at these at your leisure and identify interesting threads that you would have liked to explore further in the current forum.
LxT 2: The TUET initiative
The core instructional team is from the Interdisciplinary programme of Educational Technology at IIT Bombay. Courses and Workshops similar to these are part of the larger umbrella project - "
Teacher Use of Educational technology". To know more about TUET and the work done by the department please visit the
teaching resources page and the
tools for teachers page. All our activities have Learner-centricity in its core and we have been using various channels to communicate this message for more than a decade.
A self-paced course that was designed by a larger team from IITB during COVID19 lockdown can be
accessed here. This self-paced course follows LCM principle, but is more in alignment with a flavour termed
LCM Lite (you will see more on this in the week 8 of this course). It will be interesting to note that, the entire planning for this course happened on a common Slack Channel (in the form of an LxI) and the contributions turned into a course on its own.

Reflection Spot 2
This is more of a logical reflection spot, and if you have come up till now then our assumption is that:
- You have carefully thought of the question in Reflection Spot 1, and have framed an answer for yourself
- You are either aware of the interactions that happened in previous versions of LCM course or you are aware of the TUET initiative from IDP-ET@IITB
And here is a specific reflection question for you. Will you call this entire post as a Learning Dialogue?
If yes, what was the core objective behind this LeD?
If no, what rules of the LeD is this post violating?
As I mentioned earlier, there is no hurry in answering this question. But for those who are registered for the exam, you will see the AQ based on this post in the question paper ;-)
Looking forward to hearing back from you.
Regards
Jk
