Hello,

Myself Gokul Krishnan from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Currently working as Service advisor in automotive sector. Apart from the knowledge acquired through school & college, I'm always keen to know about new things. A friend suggested to check the NPTEL website. Got interested with the topic of Stress Management, enrolled and as far as the lectures heard till now, a new perspective to view the stressors in life is acquired.

I am H. Balasubramanyam, Retired Asst General Manager of SBI.  I used to handle sessions on Stress Management.  My aim in joining this course is to refresh myself on the subject as it is nearly 10 years since I handled this topic.

Yes, it is. Self - cognition is a broader concept including perceptions about one's self, personality, ability, esteem and so on. While self- esteem is a part as in subjective evaluation of how I hold myself.

Thanks and regards,
Shazia

Hey,

I spoke to ma'am regarding this. She says yes you are correct as self cognition can affect stress level. There is a fault on my part. For that, whoever attends this question will get a score of one.

 Apologises

Thanks and regards,
Shazia

Thanks Mam for the clarification. Now I would like to invite your kind attention to Assignment 1, Question Number-9 which reads as :
Which is not the Factor of Personality related to stress:-
a. Locus of Control
b. Personality Type
c. Self Cognition
d. Hardiness
Now my answer to this question was (d) Hardiness, which has been marked as wrong and the right answer has been shown as (c) Self Cognition. Now here is the abstract of lecture number 4 of Week-1 :
Some of the other factors of personality that are related to stress. One is the locus of control second, self-esteem, third the different personality types and of course hardiness which is a positive factor that helps deal with stress.

Here Self-esteem has been mentioned as factors of personality that are related to stress at number-2, which according to your explanation and my understanding is nothing but Self-cognition and hence should be a factor of Personality related to stress. Whereas Hardiness has been loosely mentioned as a factor in the above mentioned abstract. So my answer should be correct. Please look into the matter.
