From macro point of view, Reflection spots are pauses introduced within LeD in order to help the learner to zero in on a situation/question she/he has gone through earlier.Besides checking the knowledge garnered before the introduction of Reflection Spot, isn't that reflection spots do also break away the monotony.Psychologically, reflection spots refresh the mind and infuse confidence if the learner's answer emerges as 'correct'?

Yes. Reflection spots can be used to break the monotony. This is what Prof. Sridhar referred as structural pause points.
But I have a qs. for you - What if my answer emerges as incorrect and I get to know why my answer is incorrect? Would this also enhance my confidence?

Very good question Gargi ji,
If my answer is incorrect then it means there is something wrong in my perception about the preceding concept. Hence I will need to revert to the preceding concept and learn it again. So  I will find out the pitfalls in my misconception and re-correct the same. This will definitely enhance me to take more efforts. Confidence lies in efforts we take, the consistency in it. Gradually the success is bound to follow.

While one may customize RS depending upon the purpose which one intends to achieve, my personal experience with direct instruction in the context of Medical Education Courses for teachers (Heutagogy model) shows that Reflection has no 'right or wrong' especially in education!. It is ones' individual freedom to express. Carrying forward this concept to MOOC setting, I will be happy to see some response  from the learner. I would not even 'declare' whether their response is right or wrong. I would simply  appreciate for their honest effort made to think and respond. However, the situation in hard sciences may be different, here you are bogged down by the right or wrong answer.

Yes. Reflection spot gives chance for learners to recollect what they learnt from the content and also can refresh the mind of the learner.

I do agree with you Sir. I think even if the answer is incorrect, the learner will realize that he/ she needs to be more alert n active and go back to the preceding content.
