Dear LCM Team members and peers,

It is a good experience to be a part of this course.  More than anything, I feel connected with LxI and online chat.  Thank you for the opportunity.
The exam indeed went on well.  I expected more questions and was able to complete it within 40 minutes.  We would like to see the internal marks in the progress section.

Waiting to see you all in a new course by (of course) with the same team. Some general multidisciplinary course like OBE, RBE etc.

With regards,
E.S. Samundeeswari

Good evening dear colleagues, me too had a great experiencing in critically understanding the module. Inspite of lack of time to participate in LxI, I was actively reading all the happenings. Thank you for LCM INSTRUCTERS in instrumenting the whole program.

Dear Team members,
Thanks for a great course.
The exam went  off very well .. honestly easier than I expected. Of course I could not submit a couple of assignments..
I am looking fwd to implementing the principles I learnt..it will be a challenge since our college has no recording facility..
The LXI and LeT were really stimulating as we're the vedios of all the faculty.
Thanks once again to all the faculty members .
PS
I was amazed at the number of "youngsters" taking the certification exam...A sign of the popularity of the courses offered I suppose..felt a little out of place as probably I was one of the oldest members to turn up at the examination venue..that may have prompted the guy with the camera and mike to take a sound bite from me!!!

Dear Learners,

We are really happy to see that many of you have been positively inspired to try out some of the learner-centric principles in your own teaching-learning in one way or the other. On behalf of the course team, I would take this opportunity to thank each and every one of the learner who took part in the course.

Though this response comes slightly delayed (unlike the responses during our regular LxI discussions), I believe it was important for us to make an informed reply based on both assignment and exam statistics. Some interesting statistics that we identified from both assignment and exam reports are shared below:

  • 1960 people have accessed one of the course activity pages (LbDs, KQ,RQ,AQ).
  • Among these, 329 people have done at least one of the activity (LbD, KQ,RQ or AQ).
  • In the examinations, we saw that 90% of the learners finished the exams well within 1.5 hours
So here are some specific questions that we wanted to ask each LCM learner:

Q1. Though you have indicated that the course had high amount of learner-centricity, we see that the statistics show a large number of people to be mostly inactive. A major reason might have been unfamiliarity with the format in which the course was run (LCMified way). Do you feel that instructions provided at the start of the course or the discussion forum support needed some change?

Q2: We see a lot of people completing the summative exam much before the designated 3 hours. A reason for this might be that the course is an introductory course aimed at sensitizing teachers about learner-centricity in an online course setting. Do you want to suggest some changes in the format of the question paper?

Q3: This google groups will be available always. Do you think that we can use this as a mailing list to intimate post-course actions taken at each learners' respective locations?

@Raghavendran KM
Thank you for agreeing to share the feedback with our camera team. We do use these feedback whenever we go for awareness workshops in colleges. I hope that some of the senior faculty will be encouraged to try the certification route after seeing your feedback.

In my personal opinion, I think everyone is "young" at heart and that is why they have coined the term "lifelong learners" to us :-)

Dear LCM Team,
Thanks a lot to the whole team of LCM, NPTEL for the course.
The instructions were very clear. It is true that the discussion forum was a bit difficult to navigate. Is it possible to use social media (Whatsapp/Telegram/Facebook) as a discussion forum in the future? Not sure of the evidence for the same to increase participation.

Q2: We see a lot of people completing the summative exam much before the designated 3 hours. A reason for this might be that the course is an introductory course aimed at sensitizing teachers about learner-centricity in an online course setting. Do you want to suggest some changes in the format of the question paper?
Yes, the summative exam may not have achieved the intended purpose. The part B questions were very good and we could have had many more of such questions. But the formative part was exceptionally good and the assignments were really helpful.

Q3: This google groups will be available always. Do you think that we can use this as a mailing list to intimate post-course actions taken at each learners' respective locations?
I am looking forward to this mail group as a "buddy" program to know how far we have taken this forward. It will help me get inspired, clarify and update whenever required.

Thank you for the feedback Sree Kumar.

Here are some of our thoughts:
1. We have tried Whatsapp groups and FB groups for some of the TeachMOOCs we offer in IITBombayX platform. The results are mixed. Again a major issue that I personally feel is the intrusive nature of WA/Telegram networks. Emails are always less intrusive than mobile numbers and people have the option to filter relevant discussions. Once again this is a personal opinion.

2. Since this was our first NPTEL summative exam we too are learning along with you. However, from a philosophical point of view the course focused more on the formative aspect and immersive experienced of LCM. I don't think passing this course/scoring X marks in final exam alone would be considered as a criterion to offer a MOOC by anyone. As I said earlier, it merely sensitizes the learner to the possibilities that exist and the reason to explore these.

3. We will keep you all posted about the major developments in this direction.

Sir,
This course provided an overall idea in terms of design, creation, assessment and learner interaction. Since I am in the initial stages of designing a MOOC, was really helpful. Thanks to the team.

If you conduct any workshops on how transcripts/storyboards for a LeD and c followed by recording the storyboard as videos, might be more useful.

Got a lot of inputs and ideas on LCM

Respected sir/ma'am,
I would like to say one point, that over the certificate it is not mentioned that this course is a 4 week FDP course. I don't know why. Is there any other link to get that? Please let me know. I have already downloaded the e certificate, but FDP is not mentioned on the certificate.

The AICTE FDP Certificate has to be applied separately. It will have the equivalence mentioned as per the MoU between AICTE and NPTEL.

The FDP Certificate registrations were closed after the exam registration was over. To know more about the process to follow for the FDP Certificate application, please write to sup...@nptel.iitm.ac.in
