Can someone kindly help me with the following question
6.Variables with an interval scale of measurement may be converted into a ratio scale of measurement by performing?
How can we convert the variables of an interval scale of measurement into a ratio scale of measurement if in the interval scale ration values have no meaning since value of zero is arbitrary whereas in the ratio scale true zero exists and we can perform all arithmetic operations

Kindly Help

Hi,

By conversion, we mean to form a new variable by doing some operations on values of old variable and this can be done only using subtraction.
First of all, it is not necessary that every variable with an interval scale of measurement can be converted into a ratio scale of measurement.
Whenever variables with the interval scale of measurement don't have absolute zero, we need to have absolute zero to convert it into the ratio scale of measurement and this can be done using subtraction only. By subtracting the same values of the variable, we can have the absolute zero in the new variable.
You can refer to the FAQ of week 1 to get a better idea of it.
