Please clear , what is R^2 in Lecture 4.8 ?

R^2 is the square of the correlation coefficient. Basically higher the R^2 value higher the association between two numerical variables. Note that both strong positive and strong negative have similar R^2 values as their squares of both correlation coefficients is similar.
