Sir,

With due regards, to tally whether my submitted assignment for the graded assignment week 1 of statistics is having all the answers to be correct or not, yesterday I was re-checking my answers. Meanwhile I found an answer provided by one of the course support team member for Statistics-1 in which he wrote "The sample should be
a subset of the population, it need not be a representative of the population.” , due to which I changed my answer for Q.No. 11 of week one graded assignment just yesterday from option B to C i.e. 2nd to last option.
Also the specified question was part of the paragraph for Q.No. 9,10 and 11 in which ‘Naresh only wanted to know about the specifications of major bikes present in the market which is a clear question of Descriptive Statistics and NOT Inferential One.
I request you to please seek into the information and help me out. And if required re-allot proper marks for the given question.
I have attached 3 screenshots for your reference below.
Thanking You,

Yours,
Harsh Kumar Upadhyay

Hello,  Harsh Kumar,

It is true that every sample we selected won't be a representative of the population. But for statistical analysis statistician chooses the sample to represent the entire population.  Being a representative is one of the criteria statisticians should follow. The question even though is included for the bike dataset is more general criteria which should be followed.

Thanks,
Ram,
Statistics-1 Course Support.
