Is it necessary that sample always represents population? If it doesn't represent population, will it still be considered sample?

Hello Neha,
The sample selected should be a representative of population so that inferential statistics which we are performing would be correct. It is necessary that a sample should be representative of population but while selecting sample statisticians make sure that sample is representative of population.
