in graded assignment question number 9, is the constant '5' added to each value of the data set or to the numbers(2,12,18,30) only; that is except second value 'a'?

Hello,

It is clearly mentioned in the question that 5 has been added to each observations in the dataset. So, does that mean it excludes 'a'?
