IMG_20201103_212359.jpgQ6 The question does not state if there has to be EXACTLY 34 students in the class wherein in the provided solution, the word 'exactly' is mentioned.
This creates confusion since even the on the days with more than 34 students, there are 34 students present in the class.
Hence, the answer can also be 5 since there are five days with 37, 42, 43, 44, 45 which is inclusive of 34 students.
Herewith attached is the solution provided.
Please clarify.

Hello,
When they mentioned on how many days were there 34 students in the class, it means exactly 34 students. They did not ask for 34 students or more, or 34 students or less like in the previous question.

Thanks & Regards,
Ram,

There were 34 students in the class for five days, right? If someone were to visit the class and ask, "are there 34 students in the class", the natural answer if there are 34 or more students in the class ought to be yes. If you ask me, it is not very obvious that 34 means exactly 34. On those five days, certainly 34 students were there in the class, which would not be a true statement for the other days.

I deleted a post that I had made earlier in this thread, as I had made a wrong conclusion.

Yes. The word "exactly" makes a huge difference and it simply cannot be assumed that the question implies "exactly."

Example 1
Suppose the school has a rule that only if there are at least 34 students in class will the teacher get paid. So the school accountant asks rather ambiguously, "On how many days were there 34 students in the class?" . If he concludes that there were zero days where there were 34 students in class, the teacher will not get paid.

Example 2
If the same stem and leaf plot represents the cash(in Rs) that 16 people have. The following questions are asked:
i) How many people have 34 rupees ? 5 people
ii) How many people have exactly 34 rupees ? 0 people

The word "exactly" makes a difference to the outcome.

Hello!
That is what I am constantly trying to specify. And it is not just about marks, just how are we to respond if there's a similar question in the forthcoming examination.
Also, this is statistical ANALYSIS so I think it is very mainstream to think like that. I don't say zero as an answer is wrong, but the five should be correct too.
Still can't acclimatize to the thought that the course team is yet not responding.
TO THE COURSE TEAM, STATISTICS,
We have high hopes from the esteemed institution sir/ma'am, please do not lead us to think basic.
We are talking concepts here and your due reply can surely make us go in various dimensions.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Regards
All the students!
