Dear Sir/Madam,
Kindly explain the notion of percentile. Is there a definition other than the one given in the lecture which is more understandable, easily memorable and functional? If there is an alternate definition kindly share. Thanks for the kind attention.
Thank You.
Yours faithfully

Also in some definitions, percentile is given as Lp = p/100 * (n+1)
In our definition i think its given as np
Have some confusions in this regard
Please clarify
I think my understanding of the concept is not correct
Please help

Hi,
Pth percentile means data point below which p% of data lies (Just an intuition, not a technical definition). For example, if your score is at the 70th percentile, then 70% of students have scored below or equal to your score.
Thanks,

Thanks Sir. The definition is clear now, Sir. Thanks for the clarification, Sir. Kindly consider posting an equation also. Also kindly mention
what does np stands for? Can we calculate percentile using the formula given in the first screenshot, sir. Thanks for the kind attention.

Dear Sir,
If two data values satisfy this condition, then the sample 100p
percentile is the arithmetic average of these values. What does this mean? Kindly explain.
