Lecture 4.7 correlation coefficient

While defining it is mentioned that 
r = cov(x,y) / sqrt(standard deviation of (x) ) * sqrt(standard deviation of (y) )

And cov(x,y) and StdDev(x) and StdDev(y) all have denominator N or n-1

But in formula no denominators are used. only numerators are used.

Is there any step not explained or terminology used has error (which I least expect looking at the proficiency of the Professor)

Since the formula of covariance has n or n-1 in the denominator, hence n or n-1is canceled out from both numerator and denominator.
