Deb and Ananya bought 20 toys together. From these 20 toys, Deb lost 3 toys and Ananya lost 4 toys. Product of the current number of their toys is 42. Can you form an equation for Deb to know how many toys did he have initially? [Let us assume Deb initially had
x
 number of toys.]

Deb & Ananya bought toys together=20 toys
Assume equally split toys as
Deb=10 toys
In which 3 toys is lost 10-3=have 7 toys**
Ananya=10 toys
In which 4 toys is lost 10-4=have 6 toys **
yes the Product of current no of toys**=42
Initally assume Deb has 10 toys and 3 lost
(10+x) (10-3x)
100-40x-3x2=42
is this the way i solved this problem
Kindly advise is this correct way to solve this activity.

Here is the procedure
D+A=20 means A=20-D
D loss 3 mean D-3
A loss 4 means A-4 =20-D-4=16-D
So (D-3)(16-D)=42
