question 9 graded assignment 3 of mathematics

dear sir,

with reference to the subject mentioned as part of the solution the third option is given 36 units from home .....

however from the question given the co-ordinates of ajay is obtained as (12,36) ...now from the origin i.e his house location if we calculate the distance using the distance formula SQRT(a square +b square ) we get the answer as 12sqrt(10)   ....which is not present as option. if we assume the co-ordinate of ajay to be (9,27) we get the distance to be 9sqrt(10)

which is present as option hence i chose that option as part of solution.but the solution is marked as wrong ..can you let me know the reason.

9root10 is my answer too.  I wonder how is the answer 36 units.

Same here. And as I can see, many students have raised the same issue. I hope that the committee will give the correct answer by today.

ah, mistakes is ours.  he has actually walked 3 units to the east, and 9 units north and repeated 3 times.  So, 12 * 3 = 36 units.

What a trick question, and such a simple one!

I have found maximum questions are trick rather than complex.
