It doesn't necessarily requires to have diagonals to intersect at midpoint.the diagonally opposite vertex is calculated assuming that diagonals are cutting each other at mid point.A quadrilateral may also look like this...(diagonal not intersecting at mid point)Please clear my doubt regarding this.
