Dear Sir,

How can AQ be equal to x - x1, as there is a change in x-coordinates and we will be moving from left to right i.e. from A(x1, y1)  to Q (x , y1)

As per my understanding it should be x1 - x, please correct my understanding.
Thank You.

Best Regards
Arun

In the lecture the length of AQ is calculated. It should be always positive. Coordinate of A is (x1,y1) and coordinate of Q is (x,y1)
So the length of AQ will be (x-x1) which is clear from the diagram.
Hope it helps.
Best
