Deb and Ananya bought 20 toys together. From these 20 toys, Deb lost 3 toys and Ananya lost 4 toys. Product of the current number of their toys is 42. Can you form an equation for Deb to know how many toys did he have initially? [Let us assume Deb initially had x
number of toys.]
x3+13x4=42
19x4=42
x2+19x48=42
x2=42
how is ths solved ?

I couldn't understand any equations you wrote.  So, will start afresh.

Assuming Deb had x toys and Ananya had y toys,

x + y = 20 ==>
y = 20 - x

(x - 3) (y - 4)= 42 ==>
(x - 3) (20 - x  -4) = 42 ==>
(x - 3) (16 - x) = 42 ==>
-x^2 +16x + 3x - 48 = 42 ==>
-x^2 +19x - 48 = 42
