Yah you are right , but i want to understand why the graph produced by the profit only equation is a better fit than the SP or CP graph.

We are calculating the profit (P(x) or y) as a function of the cost increase per packet (x). We have not introduced the concept of fitting or better fitting in this question.

@Malabika thanks , so to recap " I can't make the equation independent of CP/SP when the profit is dependent on both CP and SP " ,so to maximize/minimize anything I can't just simply take one side into consideration .
