Hello Sir,
In the graded assignment 2, in question no. 3, can the bullet hit the second person after hitting the first person or in other words can the bullet hit two persons?

Respected Sir,

That is however not a valid assumption to make. Leave alone High Powered Sniper Rifles, even normal guns have the potential of hitting and injuring, even killing, two humans.

It is not uncommon to have a bullet go through the body completely.

Please reconsider this stance.

We are neither in a war or not here to decide the type of Rifles. Keep things simple & straight.

Better we focus on GA3 and birds eye should be on 22 Nov.

Yes, and the simple and straight way to thing is that the bullet can pass through anyone.

No. That was already clarified earlier that Bullet will stop after 1st hit. Please see the discussion forum for old replies on this subject.

It is not "clarified." It is asked of us to make certain assumption that is incorrect both physically and from common sense. Leave alone the fact that assumptions to be made should normally be included in the question.

And me and others are contesting the validity of this assumption.

Please refer to the attachment. It was already clarified on 22 Oct that Bullet will not damage anyone after 1st hit.

Such a declaration should have been mailed to everyone like a course announcement. Or it could have been included in the question itself.

It is not a fair expectation to post like this in one thread of the group. There are many many threads and it is not possible to go through each of them for anyone.

Dear learner,
Please think logically. Kindly, if such case happened as discussed in attachment then it were already mentioned  in the question. So, please do not make more hypothesis by yourself like  as usual happening in move or video game. This is a straight forward question and whatever the necessary assumptions are given it's enough to solve the question.
Best wishes

When the bullet is hitting L according to your figure, observe that the bullet is hitting M first then piercing through him it will hit L, which is assumed to be not possible in reality. As the bullet should change its path after hitting one person depending on the speed of the bullet and many other factors, which are not mentioned anywhere in the question. So we are assuming that the bullet stops after hitting one person, we have discussed in many threads of the discussion forum and in live sessions also.

Hope it clarifies your doubt.
Best

Hi team,
very valid point - lets drop the discussions surrounding snipers and bullets , and the fancy of the bullet passing through one target and hitting the other ..

Just have one doubt  ...  without the loss of generality , how confident can we be that the sniper would target the first person in the range and not the second one?
I mean he can very well feel like targeting the person standing at 90 ft ..  Ill follow this thread just for the curiosity sake.

sorry for the bother

... The only presumption however for that explanation to be correct is that the targets are standing in a straight line :)  so that the line passes through the first to reach the second target
