Dear SPOCs,
Due to the current pandemic situation, NPTEL exams scheduled to be conducted on 24/25 April 2021 stand postponed until further notice. For final year students looking to graduate in 2021 using NPTEL courses for credit transfer, we have decided the following:
SPOCs may recommend the final year students who will be graduating in 2021 for this one-time Modified certificate.
The process for applying for the modified pass certificate (for final year graduating students alone) is open now in your LC SPOC login for Jan - Apr 2021 semester.
Important points to note:
1. A one-time Modified Pass Certificate, with text ‘Covid Impacted’, will be provisionally issued to final year students graduating in 2021 alone, based on the Assignment Scores they have obtained in their NPTEL courses.
2. THIS MODIFIED CERTIFICATE IS APPLICABLE ONLY TO STUDENTS GRADUATING IN 2021.
3. The Average Assignment score will be calculated as follows:
Average of the best 3/6/8 assignments for courses of duration 4/8/12 weeks (or as announced apriori in the course in case of changes)
If this score >= 40/100 (which is also one condition for certificate eligibility), we will issue a modified Pass certificate.
If this score <40/100, this certificate will not be issued.
For programming courses, since the non-proctored exams are also over, we will use the cutoff in Assignments and the programming exam to decide on eligibility for this certificate.
4. This certificate will not be counted towards the Domain certification as a completed course.
5. For those not requiring NPTEL credits to graduate, NPTEL is looking into various possibilities of conducting the centre-based in-person final exams in the coming months. The mode of conducting the exams, date of the exams, etc will be announced as the situation evolves.
