REVIEW of translated NPTEL course transcripts

Dear SPOCs,
It is our pleasure to inform you that a new initiative has been introduced to break the language barrier.
We have started translating the English language transcripts of NPTEL videos to 11 Indian languages. A significant number of students go through their schooling in their native language so they may find it difficult to adjust to the English language. This initiative will help them to understand better by seeing the subtitles of the video in their native language as well as improve their English skills as the instructor speaks in English.
We have identified top 100 NPTEL-NOC courses (list attached) whose transcripts will be translated to the regional languages. The languages to which the translation is being carried out are: Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Marathi, Telugu, Assamese, Oriya, Urdu.
The translation is done by people who are not subject experts. So we would like to get your assistance and help for reviewing the translated versions to make it error free.
More details on how to translate will be shared shortly.
Process:
step 1: We will translate the English transcripts into the regional language.
step 2: We will send one hour of content as a sample to those interested - you can see if you have the time to do the remaining within the timelines specified.
step 3: Each course, we will divide into 2 parts and give each to a reviewer. Once the first review is done, we will swap the versions for the second level check.
Recognition:
There is an honorarium of Rs 1000/- for verification of one hour of the translated transcript.
Your name will be mentioned in the course where these are displayed.
A certificate of appreciation after you complete a course.
Timelines:
2 months to verify 30 hours of translated content in one language.

What you need to do:
We first need to identify the experts in each language for each of these courses listed in the attachment.
For this - please circulate this form to your colleagues and ask them to fill the form.
Once we have gotten the database ready, we will reach out to them based on our criteria for choosing.
