TOP 100 LOCAL CHAPTERS for Jan/Jul 2020 semesters

Formula for rating Local Chapter as Top 100 for Jan/Jul 2020 semester
0.1*Number of candidates present to write exam (Capped at 10) +
1*Successfully completed (capped at 100) +
2*Elite +
5*Silver +
8*Gold +
10*Toppers
Per this formula, certain weightage is given to each category.

For example, let us say:
No. of candidates present = 310
No. of successfully completed:  200
No. of Elite: 5
No. of Silver = 4
No. of Gold candidates: 3
No. of toppers: 2

So, the calculation is carried out as follows:

Present = 0.1x310 = 31 (capped at 10) = 10
Successfully Completed = 1x200 = 200 (capped at 100) = 100
Elite = 2x5 = 10
Silver = 5x4 = 20
Gold = 8x3 = 24
Topper = 10x2 = 20

10 + 100 + 10 + 20 + 24 + 20 = 184 points

Points are thus calculated and TOP 100 colleges are rated as AAA, AA & A.

What does Capped at 10 or 100 mean?

Number present for exam ---> points are capped at 10; ie. maximum points allocated is 10
For any count above 100 present, the max points are capped at 10.
So, if the present count is say 220, multiplying by 0.1 gives 22, but the max points taken will be 10.
If the present count is below 100, say 80, it is taken as 80x0.1 = 8

Same rule applies for capped at 100 also.

It is capped because we do not want to base the ratings on sheer volume of people writing the exam.
We want to emphasize on the performance of the students and so more weightage is given to these categories.
