I supoose the answer for the same can also be option b too (" The student has certainly topped in at least one subject ") right ?

Question : " If a student has topped the class in terms of the total marks obtained, which of the following statements is true? "

Please may I know?

Here the problem is the word "certainly". The student topped in total marks cannot guarantee that he/she is topped in at least one subject.
