Doubt regarding datatypes(records and lists)

Is it right in thinking that all list(datatypes) are a record(datatype) but not the vice versa?

if not, what is the right way to easily distinguish between these two datatypes?

No, that is not right.

List: It is a collection of values of the same datatypes. e.g. Alphabets = [a - z, A - Z], Numbers = [0 - 9]

Record:  It is a collection of values of different datatypes. e.g. Student information = {Student 1: [name, maths marks, phy marks, DoB, address, mob no.], Student 2: [name, maths marks, phy marks, DoB, address, mob no.],  Student 3: [name, maths marks, phy marks, DoB, address, mob no.]}
