If we want to add the marks then we also have to add the string name because different subjects are adding other than given so we have to assign two things intergers for marks and string for the subject so they are different variables and it must be ((record)) because ((list)) is for same data type..

Adding the marks only doesn't makes sense we have to add the subject name also so it is ((record))

Absolutely  this is exactly what i had thought and had suggested to the team, but they said that it would be complicating things and that we should just consider them as simple fields. now i have ended up with a wrong answer after that dicussion.

yes we are adding the subject name and the marks as a record 
like subject 1 marks1
      subject 2 marks2 
 these records together  make up a list , here in this in this question we can have the data type as list or record, both should be correct.
but the computational thinking team told that we will consider as integer.
