In spark. /r/ is silent so this cannot be counted as sound. Prof. Rajesh Kumar very clearly stated that there is a huge difference in writing and speaking. So there must be only 3 consonant sounds so the correct option should be 3rd.

No, it is not the same in both! In NAmE, it is /spa:rk/, whereas in BrE, it is /spa:k/.

Wait. There were only to shifts for the qualifiers right? Then, how can there be 3 question papers?

From the discussions, there were at least three question papers in each shift. So, I never understood the argument on disparity in difficulty levels between shifts. Normalisation based on different question papers makes sense.
