Dear All,

I see a lot of discussion regarding assessment calculation for the LCM course, eligibility for certificates etc in the forum. I am attaching a resource that was created by a learner and then later modified by several of us during the course run during previous edition of the course.

Attached is an excel sheet where you can fill the marks that you obtained for various graded quiz and then check eligibility of certificates. Let me know if this helps.

This link points to the discussion forum post where this was shared initially by Mageshkumar Gunasekar.

Thank you sir for this wonderful resource. I must say great effort by all the learners and instructors involved in creating this file.

Dear Charaneswaran,

Thank You Charaneswaran for the suggestion. In fact we had initially thought of doing this, but then we reconsidered the idea based on the following three points.
  • First and foremost, the exam registrations are done well in advance. So the idea of an email alerting eligibility at this point is of very little use to the learners who have not done the assignments well.
  • Secondly, the course is about sensitization on learner-centricity. So final exam is completely voluntary and we want to leave it to the learner to decide.
  • Thirdly, we as a team do not subscribe to the idea of one final summative examination being representative of complete skills acquired from the course. Summative examination for an LCM MOOC is just another LbD without customized constructive feedback. However, we do use this as one more criteria in selecting Discussion Forum Moderators. But we will be revisiting this criteria after this course as we see a lot of good discussion forum contributors not writing exams.
Hope this clarifies the rationale of sharing the resource.

Best
Jk

Dear Sir, Will it not be more convenient, if at the end of course, we receive a mail giving our Mark's & eligibility for writing the exams? This will be sent to only those who have completed the course properly. In that you can indicate the modus of written exams too so that we can prepare for the exam properly.

Thank you Sir for this calculator. I missed almost one and half week course and gone through after words. My performance throughout this course was not good as I could not concentrate on this course due to some other official assignments, compared to my previous course had taken through NPTEL. Finally my score is at better position compared to the expected score. The course contents are well structured and motivative to the learners.

Dear Sir/Madam

xlsx

Practice Questions are not part of grading.
