American White Pelicans arising from Chuckanuts Lost Lake

Sue Parrott and I watched this morning around 10 am from a spot in the mountains about 2 miles east of Lost Lake on a logging road as 20 American White Pelicans circled tightly up and out of Lost Lake. They appeared to be circling as climbing in a thermal until they were well above the Chuckanuts and finally formed a V and headed directly north in the direction of Bellingham. We were quite surprised to see Pelicans in the mountains, especially coming out of a small lake like Lost Lake.  We are wondering if they spent the night there.  No idea but quite an interesting sight to see.
