Hello,
I'm not very active on this site but I sure appreciate the wonderful birding reports that a number of you share here. Thanks so much for doing so!
I consider myself an intermediate birder that wants to up my game by purchasing a decent (as in not too expensive) camera with telephoto/zoom lens. I already own a spotting scope with digi-camera adapter. I get some pretty decent photos here and there (see attached) but it's cumbersome and manual focus only. Have been researching and even paid a consultant at Quick Silver Photo Lab to learn more about birding/wildlife cameras. Am leaning towards purchasing used equipment for several reasons, cost being a significant factor.
If anyone here happens to have a used camera and lens they are interested in selling, I'd appreciate your sending me details. Recommendations for particular cameras and where to get them used would also be welcome. Be happy to treat any of you to a cup of coffee as we talk about cameras as well. Feel free to email me at

Thanks so much, everyone! Happy spring-time birding!
Cheers,
Dave Ketter
