Last evening a flock of over 100 long-tailed ducks flew low overhead at Semiahmoo Spit - flying from Drayton Harbor and, for as far as we could follow them, towards Pt. Roberts.  They were vocalizing like crazy - that beautiful long-tailed duck call.  I worked in the arctic for two springs long ago - one of my fondest memories was flocks of thousands of long-tailed ducks flying overhead in the late spring.  Really fun to see and hear a big flock last night.

Also, a bald eagle took a gull - hovering above it and forcing it underwater multiple times before dropping into the water and grabbing it.

Otherwise, the usual riffraff were present but in lesser numbers than last week,  as many marine birds are migrating north.

Semiahmoo Spit at sunset is always full of surprises!

Best,

John
