https://flic.kr/p/2rfbq1y - a pod of 5 Orcas hunting Harbor Seals and other interesting behavior in Drayton Harbor.

I was out at Semi Spit near the marina on July 3rd, trying out some new settings on my camera, when I heard that Orcas were entering Drayton Harbor. I quickly found access to the Semiahmoo Marina and headed out to the end of the docks. So this is more about those amazing moments when out birding and the encounters one sees vs the birds encountered.

BTW, the next day I escaped the chaos at Birch Bay and headed to Newhalem to camp off the grid at a remote pull-off on a forest service road. Getting out of my "camper" - 2000 4 Runner, in the morning, we were startled by rustling at the scrub just off the "campsite". Thought it was a deer, turned out to be a bear. Watched it plod along away down the road. Great weekend!

Cheers
Eric

Great footage, Eric!   Thanks for sharing.

Were you shooting with the Canon RF 100-500mm?

Cheers,
Paul Leeson

Yes, Great stuff Eric! Thanks for sharing.

I am fairly new to birding and looking for opportunities to connect with other photographers. Would appreciate hearing about group activities over the summer. I joined North Cascades Audubon in late May but it has been pretty quiet.
