Hello,

We are working on nailing down some dates for the Point Count Surveys.

Right now, we are looking at 6/23, 7/1, and 7/8 or 7/9.

Let us know if these days may work for you.
Sunrise times will be:

6/23-5:12am
7/1-5:15am
7/8 or 7/9-5:20am

We can do a pre-meet on the afternoon of June 19th for anyone interested and to look at weather conditions and verify meet-up.

Thanks,

Emily

Hello,

I thought I would start the conversation about the Breeding Bird Point Count Surveys that Lummi Natural Resources would like to begin this summer in the Canyon Creek area of the Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Forest. Please find some information about project description and protocols.

I would like to thank everyone from Western and the Audubon that have offered to be on the communication list for this project. Potentially, we may also add some more Audubon volunteers to the email list, but I thought I would check with this group first on availability.

Right now, we have our first five stations selected just above point 13 and below Kidney Creek on the attached map. We may add a 6th station there if time allows for it. We are hoping to find one more section within the Canyon Creek study area to be able to set up stations but are still working out where that might be.

We are hoping to conduct at least 3 repeated surveys starting at dawn and ending at 10am between the beginning of June and the end of July with 7-10 days in between. Would there be weekdays that you would be available in June before the end of the school year? Once summer starts will there be days that work best as well?

Thank you and I look forward to a fun summer of counting birds with you.

Thanks,

Emily Wirtz
