The NCAS website received the following request for help from a birder in Bow. They need some help installing a barred-owl nest box specifically:
  1. Referral to a volunteer with experience installing nest boxes in trees.
  2. Advice on the safest method to install a nest box in this type of forested terrain.
  3. Recommendation for a local arborist or tree service experienced with rope or ladder installs in similar conditions.

They can provide photos of the box and the tree location, as well as additional details if needed. Any guidance or referrals you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I will forward any replies. Thanks.

Could we applaud the spirit of this question and perhaps provide a gentle recommendation/redirection. I can easily understand how someone might see a dandelion (great for the bees!) and want to cultivate it in their flower garden and it might be helpful to consider the vulnerable native species that could coexist in that same space. It's wonderful they are thinking about how to create more space for owls.
