Hi all,

Interesting sighting while driving through Fairhaven.  Noticed a hawk sitting on top of a lamp post near Aslan Brewery.  Missed the turn off to check it out so I circled back around and saw it was still there and pulled into the parking lot where the post was located.
When I viewed it through my binoculars there was a quite large, bright blue tag on the right wing with a letter and a number written in big bold black font.

Anyone know what that is about?

June

Hi June,
Likely this bird was tagged as part of the Port of Seattle's Raptor Strike Avoidance Program. Many captured birds near SeaTac are transferred north into Skagit County and disperse from there.

This a Red-tailed Hawk that was re-located from Sea-Tac airport so it doesn’t get hit by a plane. If you ever see the number and letter on the tag, write it down and email me at raptors...@gmail.com and I can get you the information about when it was relocated and if there have been any other sightings of it.

Thanks!
