Evening Grosbeak irruption?

Hi, up in N Cascades NP a few weekends ago we saw at least 100 evening grosbeaks. Often groups of 10-15 picking at something in the center median of hwy 20 too oddly. Is that usual this time of year? Not something I’d seen before. Such lovely birds.
