I'm probably the last person to know this, but just noticed on dog walk today an osprey nest on a light post In Squalicum Park ballfields.  Male on another post guarding and probably fishing for family.  When do babies fledge?

Nope Martha, we have walked there but did not spot the nest. I believe that you are likely the FIRST one of us to spot it. Those birds are probably fishing the creeks AND the bay! Cool.

Chirp,

A chick was seen exercising on 7-24 on the Squalicum Creek Park. Probably already fledged or will fledge soon. Unlike many birds, Osprey fledglings will return to the nest for some time after fledging.

There are also two Osprey nests on the downtown waterfront. One can be seen, built on top of an old abandoned boat crane near Waypoint Park. This chick is more advanced than the one seen at Squalicum Park. 7-24-25

The other downtown nest is built on top of an old light tower near Glass Beach. This chick appears to be the youngest of the three nests. Only one chick was observed in each nest, but there may be others that were unseen.  7-24-25
