It is always a challenge of finding the sweet spot when the sun is about to set giving off such warm tones while still having enough light to get a decent shot ... and keeping feeling in freezing fingers.
I did not see the owls catch any food the short amount of time I was watching, but a Northern Harrier did only to have a Bald Eagle chase it until it dropped its prey.

Has anyone else been down to Semiahmoo or maybe Jorgensen Pier and seen the raft of 50-70 harbor Seals in the channel. They stay in a tight pack at the surface then most dive for a period but still staying together. It must be food as there were an unusual amount of gulls active in the area diving at the surface too. You can see a bit of it here, just after the Harlequin Duck preening footage.
